Italtel to apply central office platform
Italtel will base its next-generation iMSS media servers, media gateway servers and signalling servers on Force's new Centellis CO 31KX AdvancedTCA modular communications platform
Force Computers reckons that the PowerPMC-270 is the highest performance PowerPC-based PCI mezzanine card (PMC) available - with options for single or dual 750FX processors at up to 800MHz clock speed. Implemented with a state-of-the-art Marvell Discovery II system controller, this most advanced of Force's intelligent processor modules provides enhancements such as PCI-X at 133MHz, integrated SRAM and high-performance DDR-SDRAM controller - ideal for semiconductor test equipment, high-density compute clusters, metro area network ATM and IP Layer 3 switches and other demanding industrial control and communications applications.
It also offers up to 2Gbyte SDRAM and dual independent gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
The PowerPMC-270 is a compact-footprint processor module that provides a scaleable, cost-effective control or data plane processing solution based on widely adopted PowerPC and PMC technologies for deployment on proprietary, CompactPCI, PICMG 2.16 or AdvancedTCA form-factor-based carrier boards.
It delivers 'supercomputer' performance and more than enough speed and memory for current and future applications.
Capable of operating in either monarch or non-monarch mode, the PowerPMC-270 implements one or two PowerPC 750FX processors with the highly integrated Marvell Discovery II MV64360 system controller onto a very small PMC form-factor.
It also features: 64Mbyte of Flash memory; 64bit/66MHz PCI and dual serial interfaces; multiple I2C EEPROM board information/configuration devices; Linux operating system support; and a VxWorks board support package with loosely coupled multiprocessing support.

For OEMs that need more bandwidth, the module has capacity for a third Gigabit Ethernet interface, which can be implemented on a customised variant from Force's Tailor Made Solutions programme.
OEM options are also possible using other members of the Marvell Discovery II family of system controllers, such as the MV64362.
In collaboration with leading solution providers such as Marvell, Force works to supply functional building-block boards as soon as new technologies appear.
With these technologies prototyped and tested by Force, OEMs can quickly develop products with features required by their applications - reducing time from concept to full functionality.
Backed by ISO 9001 certified processes and supply-chain management expertise, Force's low-risk, fast-track design and development method offers a "total pipeline" approach unequalled in embedded computing.
The PowerPMC-270 is now available in various configurations for volume shipments.
Lower-power-dissipation and single-processor-only members of the product family - PowerPMC-240, PowerPMC-250 and PowerPMC-260 - are also available.
