The Dorado Quattro from IDS is the latest high-speed multiple-camera video compression board designed for DVR development.

The Dorado Quattro from IDS is the latest high-speed multiple-camera video compression board designed for DVR development.

This PCI frame grabber has four video inputs offering up to 25 frames per second per channel, and each board can be expanded to accept up to 20 video inputs using daughterboards.

And this is not all, as up to four Dorado boards can be used in a single PC, providing multiple camera recording capability.

The Dorado boasts some impressive features, including onboard MJPEG video compression thereby drastically reducing the PC's CPU usage, in fact only 600Mbyte of recording data is produced per hour, and if motion detection is used, several weeks can be recorded on a single hard disk.

Simultaneous processing of four parallel video streams offers a maximum frame rate of 100frame/s, and in multiple-board mode (up to four boards in a single PC) 400frame/s is possible with 16 cameras.

The Dorado Quattro also offers integrated motion detection which runs on the DSP, without any CPU load.

Configuration is easy and polygon masks can be defined for each camera, using the same algorithm used in the popular iGuard video surveillance software from IDS.

The digital I/O has four trigger inputs and eight digital inputs/outputs providing interaction with numerous devices such as lights barriers, door contacts, sirens and gates.

The video out offers two modes, single screen and split screen, both modes being freely configurable, and the display can be configured to display all connected cameras.

With a host of other features including information overlay, flexible image display, and a modular SDK for rapid integration, the Dorado is ideal for surveillance DVR development.
