Bluetooth technology from Cambridge Silicon Radio features in Toshiba's new tablet PC

The Portege 3500 is the keystone to the truly mobile office. A powerful PC, users can input information either through its keyboard or with a stylus on its screen, and by means of its Bluetooth capability, the Toshiba Portege will connect unconsciously to a personal network of devices - from printers to network connections, and mobile phones to PDAs.

The Portege 3500 tablet PC is the latest in a line of Toshiba products to incorporate CSR's proven BlueCore silicon for Bluetooth.

The new Portege is rich in features, allowing its applications to extend far further than those of a standard PC.

For example, a user could unobtrusively take electronic notes during a meeting, the software translating the scribbles into clean text using its intelligent handwriting recognition system.

The notes could then be transferred via a Bluetooth connection to a secretary outside the meeting, who could use their PC to send an email back to the office.

CSR's Bluetooth chip, BlueCore2, has a low component count and small footprint.

This allowed Toshiba to create an extremely compact and portable PC with an area less than a standard piece of A4 paper.

This enables wireless connectivity to a multitude of other Bluetooth devices offering technology that moves with you.

CSR's market leading BlueCore single-chip technology has been designed to be fully compliant with all Bluetooth specifications, ensuring maximum interoperability with the widest range of devices.

Matthew Philips, Vice President of Sales for Asia, CSR commented, "Our relationship with Toshiba extends to a broad range of products which CSR is proud to have helped put the Bluetooth logo on".

Phillips added, "We are delighted that Toshiba has chosen BlueCore to Bluetooth-enable their latest tablet and notebook PCs.

This is further endorsement of CSR from a leading PC OEM and consolidates our own leading position in the silicon space".
