These include the world's first 28-pin LCD microcontrollers for simple, cost-effective display applications, and the first programmable 80-pin microcontrollers capable of driving 192 segments for touchscreen and segmented LCD displays. Unlike some competing LCD microcontrollers, Microchip's Flash program memory enables maximum flexibility in code development and field reprogrammability.
This family of LCD PIC microcontrollers also features low-power nanowatt technology, and the ability to drive LCD displays in sleep mode.
The high-pincount PIC18F8490/8390/6490/6390 LCD family integrate an LCD driver module capable of driving 128 to 192 LCD segments (four multiplex commons and up to 48 segment drivers) in 64- and 80-pin packages, respectively.
Additional features include: 8 to 16Kbyte of Flash program memory, and 768byte of SRAM; PIC18F performance of up to 10MIPS; nanowatt power management technology, and a 32kHz to 32MHz internal oscillator; 10bit, 100Ksample/s ADCs with up to 12 channels; two analogue comparators; programmable brownout detect and programmable low-voltage detect; serial communications including Master I2C and SPI, dual USART and LIN support; and four timers, two capture/compare/PWM modules and one watchdog timer.
The cost-effective PIC16F917/916/914/913 LCD family members offer 28- and 40/44-pin package options for simple, cost-constrained display applications.
The integrated driver can drive 60 to 96 LCD segments (four multiplex commons and up to 24 segment drivers).
