Flash MCUs take motor control onboard
Microchip's new PIC18FXX39 PICmicro Flash microcontrollers feature a sophisticated single-phase motor control peripheral
The single-phase (open loop) motor control kernel uses standard application programming interfaces and on-chip pulsewidth modulation to simplify motor control integration. The PIC18FXX39 devices use ProMPT programmable motor processor technology to provide modulated output over a range of 0 to 127Hz and have a predefined variable frequency curve that can be programmed to suit the application.

Devices feature two 10bit PWMs and 256byte of onboard high-endurance data EEPROM, and achieve up to 10MIPS at 40MHz.
The microcontrollers also feature three all-purpose 16bit timers, an A/D convertor with up to eight channels at 10bit resolution, an addressable USART module supporting RS485 and RS232, a programmable 16-level low-voltage detection module (PLVD) and a wide operating voltage range of 2.0-5.5V.
They are also pin- and code-compatible with Microchip's current 28- and 40-pin portfolio.
Featuring In-Circuit Serial Programming, Microchip's PICmicro Flash devices can be programmed after being placed in a circuit board and can be programmed in-circuit at the user's operating voltage.
The PIC18FXX39 devices are available now in 28-pin SOIC, SDIP, 40-pin PDIP, and 44-lead TQFP and QFN.
