Anritsu has introduced the MT8222B BTS Master, a handheld base station analyser that supports 4G standards as well as installed 2G/3G networks, for use by field engineers and technicians.

Designed specifically for the field, the MT8222B BTS Master measures only 315 x 211 x 94mm, weighs 4.9kg and is battery operated.

It incorporates Anritsu's field-proven design, so the MT8222B BTS Master can withstand the harsh environments in which it is used.

Combining the inherent advantages of the BTS Master platform with new measurement capability, the MT8222B provides field engineers and technicians with a lightweight, handheld analyser that can accurately and quickly measure all the key wireless standards, including LTE, WiMAX, WCDMA/HSDPA, CDMA/EV-DO and GSM/EDGE.

A 20MHz demodulation capability has been integrated into the platform of the MT8222B BTS Master, allowing the instrument to measure LTE and WiMAX signals.

Additionally, the MT8222B features a 30MHz Zero-Span IF output for external demodulation of virtually any other wideband signal.

For comprehensive receiver testing, a Vector Signal Generator option is available that covers 400MHz to 6GHz and can generate two simultaneously modulated signals, plus noise.

Accurate two-port cable and antenna analysis from 400MHz to 6GHz can be conducted with the MT8222B BTS Master.

All key measurements, including return loss, cable loss, VSWR and distance-to-fault (DTF), can be made with the compact analyser.

It can also measure gain, isolation and insertion loss, to verify sector-to-antenna isolation.

The MT8222B BTS Master also has spectrum-analysis capability typically found in a benchtop instrument.

In spectrum analyser mode, the instrument has a wide frequency range of 150kHz to 7.1GHz, low phase noise of typically -100dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset, low displayed average noise level (DANL) of typically -163dBm in 1Hz RBW and wide dynamic range of >95dB in 1Hz RBW.

A number of options are available to configure the MT8222B BTS Master to suit the specific measurement requirements of any field test application.

Among the options are a 140MHz Zero Span IF output with 30MHz IF bandwidth, a GPS receiver that works with the analyser's standard 3.3/5 V Bias Tee that enables connection to BTS site GPS antennas and frequency output and input with 25ppb accuracy.

The MT8222B BTS Master features Anritsu's Master Software Tools (MST) and Line Sweep Tools (LST) comprehensive data management and analysis software that save time when generating reports.

Up to a week's worth of data collected by the MT8222B BTS Master can be consolidated into one file through the MST's Folder Spectrogram's 3D view.

Users have one file enabling them to view threshold level, zoom and independent three-axis rotation control.

The MT8222B BTS Master has a delivery of six to eight weeks ARO.
