Anritsu is to integrate Network Associates' award-winning Sniffer technology into its MD1230A data quality analyser

The OEM agreement creates a powerful test instrument solution for manufacturers, service providers, government agencies and system integrators worldwide. The new integrated solution will provide Anritsu customers with greater visibility into data traffic through superior network analysis technology and a wide range of protocol decodes from Sniffer Technologies.

It is designed to provide network engineers with a best-of-breed single-instrument test solution to verify and track quality of service, as well as the impact of network problems and performance inconsistencies that can be caused by network congestion.

Under the agreement, Anritsu will provide a solution that combines its MD1230A with over 500 protocol decodes and expert analysis technology from Sniffer Technologies.

The integrated solution will provide analysis on all network segments attached to MD1230A ports and decode protocols on all seven layers of the OSI standard model, including voice-over-IP (VoIP).

The MD1230A is the industry's only self-contained, portable Ethernet/IP and Sonet test instrument that can analyse up to 40 10/100 or five 10Gbit/s ports.

With its ability to support the highest network speeds used today, the MD1230A provides a unique solution and flexible growth path to manufacturers, service providers, and system integrators who need a single Ethernet/IP test instrument with strong Sonet test capability.

With the Sniffer Technologies option, the MD1230A will be able to determine, pinpoint, and analyse network performance and quality of service problems and recommend corrective action, as well as capture data and store it for offline analysis.

This scalable solution will include the MD1230A data quality analyser and will give customers the ability to purchase the Sniffer Technologies protocol decodes and expert analysis as an option.

The solution will be available in Q3 of this year.
