The Sanken SLA6800 Series is a family of compact, high-voltage intelligent power modules designed for use in three-phase motor drive inverter circuits for the control of domestic appliances

The Sanken SLA6800 Series is a family of compact, high-voltage (up to 600 V) intelligent power modules designed for use in three-phase motor drive inverter circuits for the control of domestic appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines or air-conditioning systems. The new devices are based on highly integrated multi-chip module (MCM) technology using a new assembly technique known as BSOB (ball stitch on bonding).

As a result, it has been possible to mount 14 chips in a standard SLA single-inline package, compared to a maximum of eight using traditional techniques.

Each SLA6800 Series device incorporates a three-phase full bridge and driver circuitry, comprising an IGBT chip, a fast-recovery diode, a high-voltage integrated circuit and a BCD (bipolar/CMOS/DMOS) IC in one transfer-moulded package.

The devices are available with a choice of different power chips which combine high current capability with wide safe operating area, giving a range of output voltages from 250 to 600V at currents from 1.5 to 3A.

Bootstrap technology is used to implement the high-side drive, and the devices are designed for a CMOS (5V) logic input.

Built-in protection circuitry includes undervoltage lockout with automatic restart, overcurrent protection with an external shunt resistor, overtemperature detection with fail signal output capability, and output crossover current prevention.

The exposed heatsink is isolated electrically.

Sanken power semiconductor products are available in Europe via Allegro MicroSystems Europe, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanken Electric, and its network of distributors.
