The Avago Technologies ALM-1106's combination of a low-noise figure to improve sensitivity, miniature size, low-voltage operation, low device current, and battery-saving features such as integrated shutdown capability makes the amplifier module an ideal choice for GPS receivers incorporated in handsets.
The ALM-1106 also enables concurrent GPS capability with the industry's highest linearity (third-order intercept of 4.7dBm) and lowest noise figure (0.8dB) performance.
As cellular handset manufacturers start offering location-based services to comply with the US Federal Communications Commission's Wireless Enhanced 911 (E911) mandate, service providers will require enhanced GPS sensitivity, which can only be met with a high-performance GPS LNA.
Avago Technologies' monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) LNA module is also ideal for IEEE802.11b and 802.11g Wi-Fi receivers and receivers for 2GHz and 3.5GHz IEEE802.16 WiMAX (wireless microwave access)/BWA (broadband wireless access).
"Each year the editors at analogueZone go through a rigorous process in selecting the most outstanding products of the year", said Paul McGoldrick, Editor-in-Chief of analogueZone.
"Avago has repeatedly proven its expertise in the design of microwave components based on its rich R and D heritage - the low-noise amplifier has winner written all over it and deservedly so for such a well-controlled performer".
"We are honoured to receive this award from analogueZone", said Bryan Ingram, Vice President and General Manager for the Wireless Semiconductor Division at Avago Technologies.
"The award confirms our commitment to continuously delivering products with increased performance while lowering the material costs for our customers". Request a free brochure from Avago Technologies ...
