Start with the news release Tyco offers IP67-rated common-core connector from Tyco Electronics UK, which we summarised at the time by saying "An IP67-rated ODVA-compliant connector from Tyco Electronics uses a field-installable common-core connector.". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release Optocoupler resists electrical noise from Fairchild Semiconductor: "The FOD0721, FOD0720 and FOD0710 are logic gate optocouplers that isolate the logic control circuitry from the transceiver at the bus interface level. ".
In April 2008, we covered the news from Luminary Micro - take a look at MCU range expansion includes USB On-the-Go which says: "New family members are optimised for industrial applications requiring reliable connectivity.".
