Xilinx releases DSP and FPGA devices
Xilinx has begun shipping the Virtex-5 SX240T and FX200T devices and has announced the new Virtex-5 TXT FPGA platform, to support system architects and designers of high-performance systems.
The SX240T, with up to 528 GMACs of multiply-and-accumulate performance and over 190 GFLOPS of single-precision, floating-point DSP performance, offers developers of broadcast video, medical imaging, wireless communication, defence, and high-performance computing applications a reconfigurable DSP product.
The FX200T delivers a total of 1,900 DMIPs with its two embedded PowerPC 440 processor blocks.
With 24 integrated 6.5Gbps serial transceivers, it is the largest member of the Virtex-5 FXT FPGA platform.
The SX240T and FX200T complement the Virtex-5 TXT devices.
The Virtex-5 TXT FPGA platform provides a high number of serial transceivers at 6.5Gbps to deliver over 600Gbps total bandwidth and will begin shipping by the end of this year.
Virtex-5 FPGAs consume between 35 and 40 per cent less dynamic power than the previous 90nm family.
