Wolfson Microelectronics has announced its latest analogue-to-digital converters (ADCs), the WM8788 and WM8789, both of which deliver quality audio to home entertainment applications.

The WM8788 and WM8789 are high-performance stereo audio ADCs that are available in small 16-pin packages.

They are designed to improve the audio performance of LCD televisions, DVD players and recorders, Blu-ray players and set-top boxes.

Both ADCs are powered from a single 3.3V supply rail and feature a pair of stereo analogue audio inputs for capturing line level inputs in the 1Vrms range with SNR performance of 106dB SNR and 93dB of THD+N.

Input signals greater than 1Vrms are captured by configuring external resistors.

The WM8789 features an extra pair of stereo analogue inputs.

The hi-fi ADCs output 16, 20 or 24-bit stereo data on the digital audio interface and operate in both Master and Slave modes.

Both devices feature a digital high-pass filter for noise and DC offset removal and support audio sample rates from 8kHz to 192kHz, with Master Clock ratios of 128fs up to 768fs possible.
