DigRF interface suits RF and baseband for 3G
TTPCom's 3G DigRF solution is designed to enable semiconductor device vendors to quickly and easily add a 3G DigRF compliant digital interface to both 3G RF and baseband ICs
TTP collaborated with Neomagic to develop a mobile TV solution that allows handset manufacturers and OEMs to quickly bring low cost feature phones to market for receiving mobile TV broadcasts.
The demonstrator, based on TTP's DAB-IP mobile digital TV software and Neomagic's flagship MiMagic 6+ applications processor, was shown at the 3GSM World Congress with live broadcasts from BT Movio's mobile TV service.
Commenting on the significance of this mobile TV demonstrator, Martin Orrell, General Manager of DAB-IP at TTP said: 'This is more than just a demonstrator - we've shown that a system is now available that is capable of supporting all the major broadcast standards including DAB-IP/DMB and DVB-H, and can help reduce time to market for a handset by as much as 50%'.
'That means manufacturers wanting to get into the low cost, low power feature phone market for mobile TV, regardless of the broadcast standard or region, can do so quickly with a proven solution based on our DAB-IP software'.
The DAB-IP technology from TTP includes both TV and radio reception and will support the main digital broadcast standards for delivering TV to mobile devices - DAB/DMB and DVB-H.

TTPCom has extended its partnership with Silicon Laboratories to allow its GSM/GPRS protocol software to be distributed directly on Silicon Laboratories' AeroFone single-chip cellular platform
Such independence of broadcast and transmission hardware standards makes it suitable for major markets around the world - and it can be adapted for feature phones, smartphones, PDAs and media players running all major operating systems.
The DAB-IP software will include support for both H.264 and Microsoft Windows Media Video (WMV) codecs.
This means that the mobile TV solution supports multiple standards, making it suitable for receiving broadcast mobile TV in different regions.
The MiMagicT 6+ from Neomagic is an applications processor which delivers rich multimedia content and low power consumption for imaging and multimedia-centric handheld devices.
Its unique integrated high-performance multimedia engine provides an audio/video decoder solution capable of handling simultaneous H.264 video and audio decoding, delivering high-performance 3D graphics.
NeoMagic Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer, Doug Young, added: 'We are very pleased and excited about the result of our collaboration with TTP'.
'Our combined solution has shown that it is possible for operators like BT Movio to offer mobile TV services using feature phones that deliver the capabilities that their customers are demanding using a technology solution that is available now'.
