TTPCom and Trimble are to develop a range of products that combine TTPCom's GSM/General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Bluetooth technologies with Trimble's proprietary GPS technology
TTPCom and Trimble are to develop a range of products that combine TTPCom's GSM/General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Bluetooth technologies with Trimble's proprietary Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. The agreement will enable automotive electronics, vehicle and wireless terminal manufacturers to develop highly integrated GPS and communications systems.

The systems will be more power-efficient and produced at a lower cost than current industry solutions.
The first offering for the combined technologies is intended for automobile electronics manufacturers in navigation, traffic information, vehicle tracking and road tolling.
By closely integrating TTPCom's wireless technology with its GPS designs, Trimble will be able to offer low-cost, low-power, location-enabled wireless communications functionality to manufacturers of vehicle navigation and telematics units.

Current end-users of Trimble's GPS technology include tier one automotive electronics suppliers to leading European car manufacturers such as BMW, Peugeot, Land Rover, Renault and many others.
In addition, TTPCom will incorporate Trimble's GPS technology into its fully-integrated silicon and software designs, which will add location functionality in TTPCom's next generation 2.5G and 3G technologies.
