BAE Systems prefers TTems
TTems has entered into a strategic alliance with BAE Systems to become a supplier of choice for printed circuit board assemblies.
In the run up to the DSEi show in September - the largest international showcase for defence and military aerospace technology - TTems (TT electronic manufacturing services) has entered into a strategic alliance with BAE Systems to become a supplier of choice for printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) supply.
TTems will also be part of BAE Systems' Supply Chain Excellence Programme.
TTems, a subsidiary of global electronic manufacturing group TT electronics, has worked with BAE Systems since early 2003 when the company secured a contract to manufacture PCBAs used in NLAW (next generation light anti armour weapon) applications.
Since then, the relationship has developed and TTems is now involved in production and development activities on a number of major US programmes.
As defined in the alliance agreement, BAE Systems and TTems will work closely together to understand the requirements of BAE Systems' customers and produce and supply PCBAs capable of meeting those needs.
Additionally, both parties have combined expertise and resources to reduce PCBA costs in order for BAE Systems to meet the necessary targets to increase its IMU market share.
The contracts represent a total of seven assemblies for TTems, including five flexi-rigid, one flexi and one rigid.
The company provides a range of services to BAE Systems, including PCB layout, SMT and hand assembly, optical inspection, in-circuit test, and flying probe testing on development boards.
Andrew Cox, Director and General Manager, TTems Rogerstone says: "The agreement signed with BAE Systems is a significant achievement for TTems and is testament to the relationship between the two companies".
"It is our aim to become involved at an earlier stage of bidding on new programmes with BAE Systems to help the company gain a competitive edge, and ultimately increase its market share, through design and early cost-down analysis".
"TTems is keen to continue working towards securing new contracts in the defence arena with leading names such as BAE Systems, and the DSEi show is the ideal arena in which to demonstrate our capabilities".
Andrew Cromwell, Procurement Manager, BAE Systems, says: "TTems has provided valuable resource to BAE Systems over the last few years and we now look on the company's capabilities as an extension of our own".
"The alliance agreement, and entry onto BAE Systems' Supply Chain Excellence Programme, demonstrates the companies commitment to work together strategically to achieve product improvement".
