The EQD075A and EQD020A0F series DC/DC convertors are part of a new generation of open-frame DC/DC power modules designed for UMTS and CDMA basestations and wireless IP router applications.

The EQD075A and EQD020A0F series DC/DC convertors are part of a new generation of open-frame DC/DC power modules designed for UMTS and CDMA basestations and wireless IP router applications.

These units support a 3:1 input voltage range that will allow for operation in both 24 or 48V nominal input voltage systems, eliminating the need for separate power modules to handle the two input voltage ranges, and therefore resulting in significant cost and logistics savings for OEM customers.

EQD075A and EQD02A0F series convertors operate over a wide input voltage range of 18 to 60V DC and provide a single precisely regulated output.

The EQD series convertors are designed to deliver up to 75W of output power in an industry standard eighth brick package measuring 57.9 x 22.8 x 8.5mm.

The output is isolated from the input, allowing versatile polarity configurations and grounding connections.

Built in filtering for both input and output minimises the need for external filtering.

EQD series convertors employ half-bridge conversion topology with highly optimised synchronous rectification and incorporate patented edge-plating with innovative packaging techniques to deliver superior thermal performance.

EQD075A offers a programmable output voltage range of 3.0 to 5.5V DC with industry standard trim equations and can deliver 15A at 5V DC output with full load efficiency of 90% (48V input).

EQD020A0F is optimised for 3.3V output and can deliver 20A at 3.3V with full load efficiency of 89% (48V input) EQD series convertors are rated for wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85C.

Standard features include, remote on/off, remote sense, monotonic startup under prebias conditions, over-temperature protection, input under/overvoltage protection, and output overcurrent/voltage protection.

The convertors are fully compliant with the EU RoHS Directive and can be used in a Pb-free or SnPb reflow environment.

The EQD series is best for distributed power architectures, wireless networks, 24V industrial and test and measurement applications.

"I am excited that Tyco Electronics is introducing the EQD series convertors", said Sabi Varma, Vice President, Marketing and R and D, at Tyco Electronics Power Systems.

"We are committed to developing products that will bring strong capabilities, high power and exceptional performance to our customers".

Each EQD module is priced at $43.70 each at 1000-unit volumes.
