Upgrade for switch-mode rectifier
A new rectifier integrates the latest switch-mode technology with superior power, protection and control features in a compact, cost-efficient power conversion system.
Tyco Electronics Power Systems has expanded its Galaxy 595 Series of switch-mode rectifiers - a key element in the Tyco Electronics' Galaxy power system 4848/100T battery plant - with the 595LT Series switch-mode rectifier.
The 595LT rectifiers integrate the latest switch-mode technology with superior power, protection, and control features in a compact, cost-efficient power conversion system.
The 595LT rectifiers provide 220A at 92% efficiency and less than 5% total harmonic distortion (THD) on the AC input.
The new devices occupy half the space of and deliver 10% more power than previous 595 rectifiers.
Spares provisioning is simplified by the full backward compatibility of the 595LT rectifier.
They replace Tyco Electronics' current 595 rectifiers without needing any adapters, also eliminating the need to maintain spares inventories of both versions.
The new 595LT rectifiers convert AC input voltage into the DC voltage level required to power end-user equipment, providing the highest quality DC power for telecommunications and data processing systems.
Tyco Electronics' revolutionary rectifier technology packs more power per cubic inch, weighs substantially less, requires minimal maintenance and frees up valuable floor space.
"The 595LT Rectifier's reliable high performance and simple installation meets the needs of the most stringent telecommunication and data processing applications, thus furthering Tyco Electronics' commitment to superior and reliable telecommunications power solutions", said Sabi Varma, Vice President of Marketing and Business Operations at Tyco Electronics Power Systems.
The 595LT rectifiers feature parallel operation with digital load sharing, which evenly balances the load current among multiple rectifiers.
The rectifier also provides precise regulation required to maximise battery life and can be used to form or recondition batteries.
Functionally, the first conversion stage incorporates a new, high-efficiency topology providing optimum power usage and enabling direct conversion of voltages up to 480V AC nominal.
The output voltage is adjustable to 58V DC for equalising battery strings or for initially charging battery strings.
The 595LT rectifier's simplified control and monitoring includes a digital meter indicating current, temperature, or rectifier alarm messages for convenient status readout.
An intelligent fan-speed control maintains safe operation at ambient temperatures from 0 to 50C and minimises acoustic noise.
To prevent load or rectifier damage, the 595LT Series is equipped with two levels of both overvoltage and overcurrent protection.
The 595LT rectifier is immediately available with a list price of $6900.
