The Infinity FMS power system is a new modular concept part of the Infinity Platform introduced by Tyco Electronics Power Systems in October 2001.
The new -48V/+24V Infinity FMS power system is an extremely flexible and highly efficient 23in-rack-mounted power system designed to support two modular rectifier families.
The system's exceptional power density is ideal for wireless applications.
The modular system's components address a wide range of power applications providing effective solutions to systems' existing power requirements with low initial cost and managed future growth.
The modularity also reduces need for training, parts inventory and management.
The Infinity FMS power system operates with many of the same components as the reliable Galaxy power system, including the Galaxy vector controller, the single interface point for rectifier control, alarm and status reporting, battery management and plant diagnostic.
The Infinity FMS power system uses a broad range of Tyco's NP Series of rectifiers rated from 800 to 2600W delivering from 15 to 800A in a half-height frame, which can be mounted on various batteries stands, and up to 1200A in a full height frame, which can accommodate additional battery trays.
A subframe suitable for cabinet applications is also available which can hold one NP Series shelf or one PXS Series shelf with the new 596D switch-mode rectifier.
"The Infinity FMS power system integrates maximum design efficiency with exceptional power density and incremental, cost-effective system growth, allowing customers to grow their systems as the power requirements increase", said Sabi Varma, Vice President of Business Operations for Tyco Electronics Power Systems.
"The Infinity FMS furthers Tyco Electronics' commitment to superior and reliable telecommunications power solutions".
The Infinity FMS power system is designed to provide easy installation, minimal maintenance and an automated system setup with the controller and rectifiers communicating via a digital interface.
The system's continuous operation and in-service upgrades allow system components, including rectifiers, distribution, and controller options, to be added in the field without interrupting service.
The Infinity FMS power system features modular plug-and-play components, remote monitoring capabilities, universal AC input and low voltage disconnect.
It comes with options for a laptop tray, external light, universal plinth and weatherproof gasket.
The Infinity FMS battery plant meets system EMI FCC level B safety and standards compliance.
List price for basic configurations start at $4800 per unit.
