Synopsys has become the first EDA company to receive a Texas Instruments Supplier Excellence Award (SEA) since its inception in 1983. Synopsys was chosen based on its overall performance and key contributions made to some of TI's most important semiconductor designs. "EDA technology has always been a critical part of the development process, and Synopsys has become a leader in this space", said Mike Hames, senior vice president, Application Specific Products, TI.
"Beyond the strength of their design tools, Synopsys has proven to be vital in quickly bringing TI's advanced products to market with minimum risk".
Synopsys teamed with TI on the development of new key technologies, including contributing to the outstanding performance of the TMS320C64x DSP generation.
This next-generation DSP marks a milestone in performance for the company and will drive many future innovations from TI.
Because it enables full convergence of video, voice and data on broadband networks, the new DSP is an excellent option for TI's wireless basestation customers.
"TI chose Synopsys for the SEA award for their superior responsiveness and quality of sales, products, support and consulting services that have contributed to TI's success", said Buddy Williams, manager of EDA Supplier Relations, TI.
"Synopsys engaged in strategic partnerships on TI's most important designs, developed three-way partnerships with TI and our top customers, and provided a high quality of local and corporate support".
"As a customer-driven company, Synopsys is proud to work with TI because they challenge us to deliver outstanding products, services and solutions", said Deirdre Hanford, senior vice president, Business and Market Development, Synopsys.
"Our partnership during the past decade is a great example of how a customer and vendor can work together to foster a relationship that benefits both companies.
Receiving the Supplier Excellence Award is a real tribute to Synopsys because numerous groups within the company have worked to build such an effective relationship with TI".
Every year, TI selects less than 1% of its more than 10,000 suppliers as SEA recipients and recognises these suppliers for outstanding contributions to the company's success.
Only 28 vendors were selected this year, based on their performance in areas such as cost, technology, responsiveness and quality.
TI formally presented the award to Synopsys management on 26th April.
