Cafe serves up menu of design tools
The Synopsys Semiconductor Vendor Programme Cafe SM gives designers access to the latest SoC design flow descriptions, and to Synopsys tools and library support information
Synopsys has launched its Semiconductor Vendor Programme (SVP) Cafe SM, an online service that gives designers access to the latest semiconductor SoC design flow descriptions, and to Synopsys tools and library support information. Access to this information enables designers to make design implementation choices quickly and define project dependencies accurately, resulting in shorter overall design cycles.

Initial SVP Cafe vendor participants include: Altera, Artisan Components, Fujitsu IBM, LSI Logic, NEC Electronics, TSMC, Virtual Silicon and Xilinx.
"With the introduction of Xilinx's Virtex-II Pro FPGA, design possibilities have gone to the next level.
SVP Cafe brings together information on industry leading Synopsys design tools and best-in-class design solutions that allow Xilinx customers to go to this level", said Babak Hedayati, senior director, Product Solutions and Partnership Programs at Xilinx.
"We welcome SVP Cafe's unique approach that enables design engineers to easily access - from their desktops - information about Xilinx's latest FPGA-based system solutions and Synopsys tool support".
"Brocade is the world's leading provider of infrastructure for storage area networks, and our design teams need the most up-to-date and accurate information on leading-edge silicon technology and SoC design solutions", said Linming Jin, director of VLSI Applications, Brocade Communications.

"SVP Cafe will help us save time in making critical design implementation and dependency choices by allowing us to find semiconductor vendors and libraries that meet our specified design criteria from one single location.
We welcome this collaboration between Synopsys and leading semiconductor vendors to bring designers this new information service".
SVP Cafe builds on Synopsys' Library Locator, an online searchable listing of libraries and support, and now offers two views of the semiconductor support information available to designers.
The new view is the semiconductor vendor view, which provides a description of the semiconductor vendor, the advantages they provide customers, a design flow graphic, and an overview of how their design flow works with Synopsys tools.
The semiconductor support view gives detailed information on how each semiconductor vendor's technology is supported with Synopsys tools.
If not already supported, it provides information on when support is planned.
Participating semiconductor vendors can easily update their information and modify their Synopsys SVP Cafe content from the web.
Synopsys users can access SVP Cafe at no charge directly through the Synopsys home page, and via SolvNet, Synopsys'online gateway to service and support for customers.
"SVP Cafe provides our mutual customers with a valuable new information channel for the latest vendor news and Synopsys technical support information", said JJ Yamaguchi, vice president, System LSI Division at NEC Electronics "NEC Electronics is committed to enabling a flexible and productive design process.
We believe that being able to scan and compare various design implementations, like NEC's advanced silicon technology and Synopsys tool requirements, will save designers valuable time in making the important decisions needed to build their next-generation complex SoC designs".
"SVP Cafe builds on the strong relationships enabled by Synopsys' Semiconductor Vendor Programme and highlights the breadth and depth of Synopsys tool support offered by leading semiconductor vendors throughout the world", said Rich Goldman, vice president of Strategic Market Development at Synopsys.
"By bringing valuable library and support information from our SVP partners to our mutual customers, we ensure that designers have up-to-date information.
SVP Cafe is another example of Synopsys' openness to collaborate with its partners to deliver best-in-class solutions and services to the design community".
