New from Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) is the SiS655FX, host, memory and AGP controller. The SiS655FX integrates a high-bandwidth AGP 8X interface and high-performance dual channel DDR400 memory controller and supports Intel Pentium 4 Hyper-Threading technology with FSB up to 800MHz. Furthermore, using the second-generation 1Gbyte/s multi-threaded I/O link, the SiS655FX interconnects with the advanced SiS964 media I/O chip.

The SiS655FX dual channel memory controller has been designed and optimised for Intel Pentium 4 series processors, supporting Hyper-Threading Technology and is the first ever Pentium 4 chipset to deliver 6.4Gbyte/s bandwidth to satisfactorily meet the 800MHz 4 FSB bandwidth demand of 6.4Gbyte/s.

This brings out the absolute best performance of both components and still leaves plenty to spare capacity for the multi-I/O and AGP 8X masters.

The AGP interface supports an external AGP slot with AGP 4X/8X capability and fast write transactions, delivering maximum performance with the most powerful graphics cards.

And supported by the SiS proprietary HyperStreaming Engine, the SiS655FX optimises the usage of system resources allocation and delivers best performance based on the data streaming characteristics to provide users with an excellent platform for Intel processors.

A high-bandwidth and well-proven SiS MuTIOL 1G technology is incorporated to connect SiS655FX and SiS964 MuTIOL 1G Media I/O together to provide the widest bandwidth connection between north bridge and south bridge to promote smoother operation to all external peripherals.
