Sandwork Design has announced that Spice Explorer and WaveView Analyzer 2006.1 implements new oscilloscope waveform data reading capability and the option to display multiple IBIS (I/O Buffer Information Specification) models. With this release, designers can acquire measured data in binary format directly from oscilloscopes, allowing them to save considerable time by performing complex analysis more efficiently on their own desktop computers.
With the sophisticated analysis tools in Spice Explorer and WaveView Analyzer 2006.1 (Spice Explorer), designers are able to carry out complex analysis of hardware measurements with the same tools they use to analyse their simulation results.
In addition to the extra convenience of combining hardware analysis and software analysis at the desktop, Spice Explorer also frees up expensive capital equipment for other applications and decouples the analysis from the scope, ensuring that the same algorithms are used on both the measured and simulation data.
The ability to use familiar EDA tools for analysis, to view data not previously accessible to designers, and to integrate and consolidate industry-standard CAD (computer-aided design) tools from multiple simulation vendors makes comparisons both easier and more meaningful.

Spice Explorer's ability to export waveforms in a piece-wise linear (PWL) format allows designers to use real-life measured data as sources in further simulations.
For example, Sandwork customers have captured real-life noisy power supplies and converted them to a PWL source for use in simulations to check the robustness of their designs and immunity to noise.
Spice Explorer also provides the option to allow designers to read, display and compare multiple IBIS models.
This improvement also greatly enhances designers' ability to qualify generated IBIS models from Spice models.
