Generator/analyser combo tests WiMAX in production
The R and S SMJ100A vector signal generator combines with the compact R and S FSL spectrum analyser in a cost-efficient production measurement solution for WiMAX applications.
The R and S SMJ100A vector signal generator combines with the compact R and S FSL spectrum analyser in a cost-efficient production measurement solution for WiMAX applications.
Internal options allow users to perform tests in accordance with the IEEE802.16-2004 and IEEE802.16e-2005 standards.
By using the R and S SMJ-K49 digital standard WiMAX option, users can generate signals on the physical layer for both mobile and stationary applications.
The R and S FSL-K92 option includes all stationary WiMAX applications.
For IEEE802.16e, which is the mobile version of the WiMAX standard, Rohde and Schwarz currently offers an external solution for the R and S FSL.
WiMAX is a technology for broadband mobile radio applications and simultaneously a wireless alternative to DSL.
It is based on modern transmission capabilities such as OFDM/OFDMA.
The objective is to provide reliable access to high-speed Internet applications.
Due to the trend toward mobile applications, WiMAX has a promising future.
To ensure stable operation, manufacturers of WiMAX instruments require a reliable measurement solution for production.
For WiMAX development, Rohde and Schwarz already produces the successful R and S SMU200A high-end vector signal generator and the R and S FSQ high-quality signal analyser.
Now the R and S SMJ100A and R and S FSL combination provides a version that covers all requirements in production.
The version for development as well as the one for production can both be remote-controlled and have the same user interface.
By using the internal R and S SMJ-K49 option, users can generate signals for mobile and stationary applications for the IEEE802.16-2004 standard as well as for the current IEEE802.16e-2005 standard.
The new functionalities can be remote-controlled via LAN or GPIB.
Moreover, the high speed at which frequencies and waveforms are changed means very short throughput time.
The R and S SMJ also offers standard-compliant signals for receiver tests and high signal quality when performing amplifier tests.
The R and S FSL-K92 option for the R and S FSL spectrum analyser allows users to perform measurements on WiMAX signals in accordance with the OFDM method even without an additional PC.
At the moment, users can perform tests on OFDMA signals for mobile applications by using external Windows software.
Remote control via LAN is also available.
The measurement of modulation quality and all RF parameters such as adjacent-channel power or spectrum masks as well as high measurement speed make the R and S FSL unique in its price class and significantly reduce throughput time in production.
The combination of the R and S SMJ100A and R and S FSL for WiMAX is now available from Rohde and Schwarz at a special package price.
