R and S boosts corporate management team

Rohde and Schwarz has two new Executive Board members in the role of President and COO as well as two further new members of its corporate management team.

Christian Leicher (35) and Manfred Fleischmann (51) have, respectively, been appointed President and COO.

And the Executive Board has named Mario Paoli (36) and Gerolf Wonisch (62) as heads of divisions.

These measures will ensure long-term continuity in the company's management.

Leicher received a degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Munich, where he also completed his postgraduate studies in ergonomics and economics.

He subsequently began his career at Ericsson in Dusseldorf, where he held various sales positions that included extended assignments abroad in China, Sweden and the USA.

In 2003, he joined Sony Ericsson in Munich as Head of Sales Operations.

Leicher is a company shareholder and grandson of company founder Dr Hermann Schwarz.

Fleischmann joined Rohde and Schwarz in 1985 after completing his studies in radio and communications engineering at the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich.

In 1990, he was appointed Head of Quality Assurance.

In 1997, he also became Head of International Service.

Since July 2001, Fleischmann has headed the Production and Materials Management Division, where he was responsible for all production.

At the same time, he joined corporate management.

Former President and COO Reinhard Bruckner (64) retired on 31st December 2004.

The Executive Board now consists of Friedrich Schwarz as President and CEO plus Michael Vohrer, Manfred Fleischmann and Christian Leicher.

The new Executive Vice President of the Production and Materials Management Division is Gerolf Wonisch, who has also joined corporate management.

He joined Rohde and Schwarz in 1965 after completing his commercial training and business management studies in Munich.

In 1971, he became Head of Corporate Procurement.

He has also handled order processing since 1979 and materials logistics since 1997.

Mario Paoli has been appointed Executive Vice President of the Finance and Information Technology Division and has joined corporate management.

In 1995, Paoli completed his studies in industrial engineering.

In the same year, he began his career at the Messer Griesheim company, where he held various positions in accounting, controlling and EDP.

At the company's Canadian subsidiary Messer Canada, Paoli was a project leader responsible for introducing an EDP system for two years.

In 2001, he joined Rohde and Schwarz as Head of Accounting and Controlling.

Richard Bauer (64), the former Executive Vice President of the Commercial and Financial Management Division, retired at the end of 2004.
