Certification opens door for federal contracts

Powell Electronics has been certified by the US Small Business Administration as a HUBZone Small Business Concern through the HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Programme.

Powell Electronics has been certified by the US Small Business Administration as a HUBZone Small Business Concern through the HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Programme.

This designation makes Powell, headquartered in Philadelphia, eligible to receive additional federal contract opportunities.

SBA's HUBZone programme, which stands for Historically Underutilised Business Zone, is in line with the efforts of the US Congress to promote economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by providing access to more federal contracting opportunities.

Ernie Schilling, President of Powell Electronics, stated: "We are pleased to receive this important designation from the Small Business Administration.

Powell Electronics has been a strong local employer since our founding by Harold Powell in 1946.

We've been at our current location in Philadelphia since 1961 and we remain committed to being a local employer".
