MOSFETs cut on resistance and gate charge
Power MOSFET devices optimise DC/DC conversion and reduce power losses at critical current levels.
ON Semiconductor has introduced 12 new power MOSFET devices that optimise DC/DC conversion and reduce power losses at critical current levels.
These MOSFETs are ideal for CPU, GPU and system rail DC/DC conversion - for both low- and high-side switching - in computing applications such as notebooks PCs, desktop PCs and gaming boxes.
These new 25 and 30V devices are single and dual N-channel MOSFETs offering lower on-resistance to minimise power dissipation.
The devices also provide low gate charge and low gate charge ratio that reduces conduction and switching losses.
These performance features combine to make the power subsystem more efficient.
"When developing these new MOSFETs we focused on helping our customers meet their specific computing power management needs", said Paul Leonard, Vice President of the MOSFET Division for ON Semiconductor.
"We plan to continue to expand our industry-leading MOSFET portfolio, specifically for advancing computing and portable applications".
"Combined with ON Semiconductor's advanced dual-edge controllers, our MOSFETs enable customers to implement complete power subsystems using active components from a single global source".
Four 30V MOSFET devices are offered in SOIC-8 packages for use in notebook computers.
Of them, the NTMD4840N is rated for 7.5A drain current, and has an on-resistance 36mohm at 4.5V and a typical gate charge of 5.2nC.
They are priced between US $0.35 and $0.53 per unit in quantities of 2500 units.
The additional eight 25V MOSFET devices are offered in DPAK packages for use in desktop computers and gaming boxes.
The NTD4857N, for example, is rated at 78A, 5.7mohm (at 10V) and 32nC.
These devices are priced between US $0.20 and $0.47 per unit in quantities of 2500 units.
All devices are RoHS compliant and are delivered in Pb-free packages.
