Omron Electronic Components' B6TS application-ready touch-sensing IC family measures floating capacitance through most touch-panel materials.
Therefore, they are suitable for use in medical products that must be able to withstand disinfectant cleaning, must be impervious to liquids and easily operated by personnel wearing surgical gloves.
The B6TS series integrates detecting and processing functions into a single-chip microcontroller that can be programmed quickly and easily.
The workbench model B6TW is an intuitive tool enabling design-to-function verification.
The workbench can be operated by any designer with a basic knowledge of digital circuitry for functions such as parameter setting, operation monitoring, and capacitance calculation.
The fact that these products are easy and fast to customise make them a good choice for OEMs who produce multiple product variations, and unlike membrane switches, they require no special tooling.
Available in two versions, the 4-channel, SSOP-20 package B6TS-04LT operates on 3.0 to 5.5V DC and the 8-channel, QFP-32 package B6TS-08NF operates on 4.5 to 5.5V DC.
They both have high noise immunity and automatic drift compensation.
Their operating temperature range is -20 to +85C.

MSRP for the B6TS-04LT in 2,500 piece full-tray quantities is US $2.249 each.
