Thai LSI expansion targets TV demand
To respond to the rapidly expanding demand of full high-definition LCD TVs, starting this summer, Oki will expand production from 10 million to 15 million per month
Oki Electric is to expand production of driver LSIs for LCD panels at its plant in Thailand. To respond to the rapidly expanding demand of full high-definition LCD TVs, starting this summer, Oki will expand production from 10 million to 15 million per month. 'To respond to the demands for HD LCD TVs, Oki (Thailand) installed new equipment to enhance its LSI production line, succeeding in increasing its production capability by 50%', says Takaki Yamada, President of Silicon Microdevice Company at Oki Electric Industry.

'Oki will continue to provide driver LSIs to customers around the world, by effectively utilising our production supply chain management'.
'This will apply to Oki Thailand where assembly and testing are done, as well as to plants in Korea, Taiwan and Japan'.
Within this fiscal year, OKI also plans to expand Oki Thailand's capabilities to develop Oki's latest technologies such as super fine pitch products.
By making this happen, Oki will be able to achieve coherently development and manufacturing of driver LSI products at Oki Thailand, enabling Oki to start up volume production in a short period of time.
