HD TV drivers speed up to 120Hz
Three new driver LSIs for full high-definition LCD TVs improve speed and grey-scale performance while reducing heat generation
Three new driver chips enhance the Oki Electric product lineup of high-performance LSIs used in full high-definition LCD TVs. The MT3126, MT3131 and MT3139 all feature high-speed drive, multiple grey scales and low heat generation. The models will be shipped in sequence from May 2007. 'With this new series, full high-definition LCD TVs can be compliant to advanced technologies, enabling higher quality TVs', said Takaki Yamada, President of Silicon Microdevice Company at Oki Electric Industry.

'Our aim is to increase our share in the driver LSI market for LCD TVs'.
The three new models feature a 120Hz drive speed - twice that used for conventional W-XGA LCD TVs, thus improving the response time of the LCD pixels.
The shift from conventional 8bit multiple grey scales (for 16 million colour display) is expected to improve to 10bit multiple grey scales (for 1 billion colour display) for more precise colour display.
What is more, Oki has succeeded in enabling the 10bit multiple grey scales without a large cost increase, by using a newly developed DAC (digital to analogue convertor) circuit.
In addition, using its own unique circuit technology, Oki has been able to reduce heat generation by 35%, thus eliminating the heat issue in the driver LSIs as LCD TVs become larger and faster.
