National Instruments has presented the prize for Test and Measurement World's Test Engineer of the Year to Zafer Boz, a UK-based engineer for STMicroelectronics

Boz, who is currently studying for his master's degree at Surrey University and working as Principal Test Engineer at STMicroelectronics' wireless business unit in Reading, was one of six engineers to be profiled in Test and Measurement World. The 32 year old was voted Test Engineer of the Year by readers because of a software tool he designed for the ST Test Executive Environment.

Using National Instruments LabWindows/CVI, Boz' software tool enables laboratory experiments to be converted to test procedures without any programming skills, making it easy for his colleagues to evaluate the wireless LAN chips that the division designs.

'I think that people should be using their creativity to make tools that are helpful for others', said Boz.

'This award is very encouraging for me and I am sure for many young engineers as well'.

'I would like carry on with my academic career part time as much as possible and still try to be innovative and creative in my profession'.

'I hope this will be the start of learning and improvement for me'.

Boz, originally from Turkey, is giving the $20,000 educational grant donated by National Instruments to the Engineering School at Ankara University in Turkey, where he completed his undergraduate degree.

'Congratulations go to Zafer for winning this prestigious award', said Eric Starkloff, National Instruments Director of Product Marketing, who presented the award.

'National Instruments is committed to encouraging the engineers of tomorrow and is delighted that Zafer shares our worldwide goal to advance engineering education'. Request free introductory details about products from National Instruments....
