Hewitt Associates has recently ranked the National Instruments manufacturing plant in Hungary as number five on its third annual "Best employers in Europe" list. The pan-European study considered companies with between 50 and 500 full-time employees and was based on the following factors: high level of corporate vision, high level of engagement, clear focus on performance, long-term view and strategic agenda for human resources. The study consisted of an employee survey, a human resources audit and a CEO survey.

"We are proud that the NI Hungary manufacturing plant, which officially opened in 2001, was named to the best employers in Europe list", said Dr James Truchard, President, CEO and cofounder of National Instruments.

"This honour underscores our commitment to creating a stimulating, innovative workplace for employees around the globe".

NI chose Hungary as the home for its manufacturing facility because of its close proximity to NI European markets, the well-educated workforce and the favourable business environment.

The 13,400m2 facility, the company's first overseas manufacturing site, is located in Debrecen, Hungary.

Hewitt Associates conducted the survey of 196 companies from May to November 2003.

Hewitt evaluated the best employers in Europe based on results of questionnaires covering four perspectives: business leaders, human resource professionals, work councils and employees.

Other companies on the list included Microsoft Hungary, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Abbott Laboratories.
