Motorola Computer Group has expanded its line of PowerPC and Intel architecture based CompactPCI products with three advanced CompactPCI single board computers

The CPN5365, CPV5370 and CPV5375 are Intel Pentium III-based boards designed to meet market demands for higher processor performance and memory. The three boards contain additional PMC sites so that OEMs can tailor their exact I/O configurations, and on-board disk storage, helping to reduce cost.

The boards are targeted for equipment built for industries such as telecommunications, industrial automation, medical diagnostic and COTS (commercial of the shelf), for which reliability, flexibility and serviceability are a must.

Motorola's CPN5365 is a high-performance, single-slot CompactPCI single-board computer, powered by a newer, lower power Pentium III 700MHz processor.

The CPN5365 functions as a peripheral slot CPU within the CompactPCI environment; thereby enabling OEMs to take advantage of the distributed processing capabilities of CompactPCI technology by providing processing power on a node level.

It can be customised quickly and easily with two PMC modules to create an application-specific platform.

Highly integrated, the board also provides up to 1Gbyte SDRAM, onboard EIDE disk option, USB, AGP graphics, parallel port, dual Fast Ethernet controllers and standard PCI I/O.

In addition, I/O for PMC sites and onboard devices are accessible from either the front or rear of the unit.

Suggested list price for the CPN5365 starts at GBP 2675.

The CPV5370 is a powerful and flexible Pentium III-based 700MHz CompactPCI host-slot CPU card that offers current Intel users with a migration path to higher performance processors.

Specifically designed to add performance, memory and bandwidth to Motorola's high availability platforms, it is designed for use in embedded board-level applications such as telecommunications, in which the highest levels of performance, reliability, and serviceability must be achieved.

The CPV5370 has a demonstrated high mean time between failures (MTBF) in addition to a unique feature that allows the board to be booted from an onboard Flash device rather than a lower-reliability device such as a hard disk or floppy drive.

Coupled with software support for operating systems such as Windows 2000 and Linux, the CPV5370 also offers flexibility thanks to its EIDE disk and a single PMC, which gives OEMs the flexibility to achieve high availability while configuring their systems in a Pentium-based, CompactPCI host-slot controller environment.

Suggested list price for the CPV5370 starts at GBP 3360.

The CPV5375 is a high-performance, Pentium III-based 700MHz CompactPCI host-slot CPU.

A variety of features, including two PMC sites with front and rear I/O access, gives it the power and flexibility for rapid customisation for the most demanding applications in industries such as telecommunications, industrial automation, medical and COTS.

The board has a high MTBF and is compatible with Windows 2000, Linux and other operating systems.

The CPV5375 is inherently reliable and serviceable, and provides OEMs currently using Intel platforms a clear upgrade path for applications where faster processing and larger memory are required.

Suggested list price for the CPV5375 starts at GBP 2290.
