Mentor Graphics has named Brian Derrick as the Vice President of Corporate Marketing

Derrick was most recently the vice president of the company's Physical Verification division. "Brian has a tremendous skill set as a marketer and he was instrumental in developing and executing the strategy that enabled Calibre to become the industry standard in physical verification", states Walden C Rhines, Mentor Graphics Chairman and CEO.

"Most recently, Brian has led Mentor's company-wide web marketing efforts.

These skills will be invaluable as we start to bring some of the most innovative new products in the EDA industry to market".

Based in Mentor's Wilsonville office, Derrick, 38, joined Mentor in 1997 as the marketing manager for Calibre.

He played a key role in Mentor's acquisition of OPCT in 1998 and the successful integration of that technology into the Calibre product family, which has resulted in Calibre's resolution enhancement products becoming the industry standard.

Derrick recently launched the new Mentor Graphics formal verification product, FormalPro, and had responsibility for the company's parasitic extraction solutions.

Prior to joining Mentor, Derrick held several marketing positions of increasing responsibility at Allied Signal and ultimately managed the Instrument Systems marketing organisation.

Derrick holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Idaho.
