The MAX2745 is a single-chip RF front end for global positioning systems

(GPS). This high-performance, state-of-the-art IC offers the highest integration in the industry - it eliminates the need for costly SAW and bulky discrete IF filters which results in a lower bill of material (BOM) cost and reduced board area. The MAX2745 supports both 3rd overtone crystal designs in 32MHz and fundamental-frequency crystal designs in 16MHz, as well as TCXO implementation.

In addition, the MAX2745 incorporates an on-chip temperature sensor and crystal oscillator with trimmed capacitors, providing a very accurate frequency and additional system cost savings.

The MAX2745 is ideal for general navigation and tracking systems, such as in-vehicle navigation, fleet management, asset tracking and management, LBS (location-based services), emergency/roadside assistance, GIS (geographical information systems), recreational handheld and marine navigation systems, as well as many mobile and battery-operated consumer electronics.

The MAX2745 is available in a 48-pin TQFP package and is specified for the extended temperature range (-40 to +85C).

Prices start at $4.78 (500-up, FOB USA).

An evaluation kit and samples are now available.
