JVC has selected LSI Logic's DoMiNo network media processing technology for its next-generation professional video products

Building on a long successful partnership, JVC will make use of LSI Logic's advanced technology to develop a host of professional products such as HDTV equipment for content creation and distribution. JVC selected LSI Logic's DoMiNo technology for its powerful performance, high level of integration and design flexibility.

"LSI Logic's DoMiNo network media processor is the most powerful video processing engine in the market, delivering more than four times the performance of the existing codec solutions today while consuming less than 2.7 watts of power", said Hiroyuki Takekura, general manager of JVC Professional Products System and Network Sector.

"With this level of performance and integration, JVC will be able to bring the most advanced and cost effective HDTV enabled solutions to the market".

LSI Logic's DoMiNo Network Media Processor is a programmable, scalable, system-on-a chip architecture addressing a wide range of applications, from low bit rate MPEG-4 for video streaming to high-performance HDTV solution for digital television.

"JVC is a world leader in the professional and consumer electronic industry", said Bob Saffari, senior director of marketing for advanced video products at LSI Logic.

"It is exciting to see our highly integrated system-on-a-chip DoMiNo architecture being used to meet the technically demanding HDTV content creation, delivery and display requirements.

Our latest innovation in video pre- and post processing such as motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) and de-interlacing (MCDI) provides our customers with superior picture quality while significantly increasing the compression efficiency".

With the analogue to digital migration trend, HDTV codecs will play a pivotal role in the enabling of digital television infrastructure, from content creation to delivery, to decode and display.

According to senior multimedia market analyst Michelle Abraham of In-Stat/MDR, "Digital video system suppliers such as JVC are requiring media processors that have high video quality, yet flexible and scalable, to serve a wide range of products in the most cost effective manner.

LSI Logic's DoMiNo Network Media Processor enables high integration, low cost HDTV codecs for content creation, distribution, and playback, creating a significant impact on the video infrastructure market.

LSI Logic has once again proven its leadership in this industry with the DoMiNo network media processor".
