The action was filed with the United States District Court in Delaware, the court where Agere Systems filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Intersil on 17th October 2002. Intersil believes Agere's wireless LAN products infringe Intersil's WLAN patents and that Agere's semiconductor products and processes, including its BiCMOS and CMOS products and manufacturing processes, infringe Intersil's semiconductor technology patents.
Intersil believes that Agere uses Intersil's semiconductor technology patents to manufacture and sell integrated circuits for a broad range of markets, including WLAN, disk drive and telecommunications products.
Intersil is seeking to collect damages for past infringement and to enjoin Agere from continuing to use Intersil's patented technologies.
"We are committed to protecting and defending Intersil's patent rights in WLAN and semiconductor technologies to the fullest extent of the law", said Rich Beyer, President and CEO of Intersil Corp.
