The new Endura HIP1011E and ISL6118 hot-plug ICs comply with the latest PCI hot plug specifications and facilitate live system maintenance, expansion and upgrading without the need to power down the server. The new ICs provide a complete two-slot PCI hot-swap solution for servers that employ the ACPI power management protocol.
As a total power solution, Endura hot plug devices deliver independent, two-port control using a single IC, and ensure that failure in one PCI slot does not affect the other.
The ISL6121 device is designed for hot swapping the 5V rail of fibre channel, IDE and SCSI disk drives in high-availability data storage systems.
It incorporates an intelligent circuit breaker with current limiting and an integrated mosfet.
The overcurrent limit is set at 2A to permit large disk drive spin-up currents while protecting the rest of the system against short circuits on an individual drive.
The ISL6121 is self-contained in an eight-lead SOIC package.
There is no footprint penalty when using the ISL6121 to replace mosfets; therefore, current limiting, overcurrent timeout, fault indication, and logic-level enabling and disabling functions are gained.
The HIP1011D is suitable for customers that prefer its built-in undervoltage lockout feature.
