And two versions of a new tabletop thermal stripper, allowing users to window strip on fibre and also to reduce lengths of fibre needed for splicing, will be displayed for the first time anywhere in the world.
'The new division has made massive strides and we come to ECOC boosted by the fantastic reaction we have had from customers and distributors', said Furukawa's Interconnectivity Division manager Colin Bonniface.
'The division has given us the chance to work better, harder and more effectively for our customers.
We all know it is a difficult market out there but the new division sees us ideally placed to deliver top quality solutions right across the product range when demand returns'.
The S176 has won orders throughout Europe since its launch - a considerable achievement in the current market.

There are three different body types, designed specifically to meet customers' ergonomic needs.
The 35 pre-installed splice programmes and 29 customisable programmes can handle all major fibre types (including similar and dissimilar fibres), with an average loss of 0.02dBs for single-mode fibre.
They include a fibre chucking system which allows a minimum 5mm cleave length - enabling the use of micro protection sleeves for maximum space saving.
Furukawa Electric's Fitel Division is well known as the world leading manufacturer of key components for EDFA and subsystems for long haul applications, such as high power 1480 and 980nm pump lasers, precision GFF and customised optical amplifiers.
Furukawa Fitel has expanded its product lines including source signal lasers, mux/demux and OADM modules suitable for use in upgradeable long-haul and metro/access network systems.
Fitel will unveil its full range of signal laser products at ECOC comprising tunable DFB lasers, 50GHz wavelength locked lasers, 10Gbit/s EA and modulated lasers.
Fitel will also launch its high performance thin-film based mux/demux and OADM modules including steep-edge 4skip0 filters.
A number of new products will also be unveiled at ECOC, including athermal AWG, PMD compensator and tunable dispersion compensator.
'We are also moving rapidly towards having a total subsystem capability ourselves.
We have the fusion splicers, we have the fibre, we have the discreet components, the pumps etc.
We are ready for subsystems market', added Account Manager Jim Lyon.
Since the acquisition of OFS, Furukawa Fitel has been working closely with OFS Fitel on a number of joint development projects.
At ECOC, both companies will display the world's first Raman module with dispersion compensator, offering integrated capability and cost saving benefit on existing techniques.
