Fluke has brought out a free software package for the Fluke 287 and 289 True-RMS Logging Multimeters.

The Fluke 287 and 289 Trending Digital Multimeters are expandable and field upgradeable: users can add capabilities by installing improved firmware.

The Firmware V1.1 is the first such update since the Fluke 287 and 289 were introduced in October 2007.

Its features include: zoom on trend, providing the ability to view and analyse Trendcapture data and see detail at X5 magnification; rotary switch memory when switching positions between AC or DC A/mA and uA; Trend View graph plot, a plot algorithm that plots the minimum, maximum, and sample point for each sample interval record and event record; and adjustable recording and auto hold thresholds that enable users to specify a per cent change in the readings that will begin a new event.

The Fluke 289 Industrial Trending Digital Multimeter can diagnose problems in electronics, plant automation, power distribution and electromechanical equipment.

Its logging function stores up to 15,000 readings for unattended monitoring of signals.

Users can save multiple logging sessions before PC download is necessary and review logged readings in graphical format directly on the meter display using on-board Trendcapture capability.

The Fluke 287 Electronics Multimeter incorporates advanced features for electronics professionals.

Like the Fluke 289, it features a large 50,000-count 1/4 VGA display with a white backlight that can simultaneously display multiple sets of measurement information.

The new software enables logging of up to 15,000 readings from multiple sessions without downloading.
