Eleksen Group has announced the availability of its Wearable Display Module (WDM) for Microsoft Windows SideShow, a computer auxiliary display product for integration into soft-goods such as bags, backpacks and clothing. Eleksen's Wearable Display Module is the world's first development of computer display technology for this market and makes carry products into extensions of intelligent devices.
The Wearable Display Module is easily integrated into soft-goods like briefcases and backpacks and provides the first 'in-bag screen' available for any computer electronics product.
It lets consumers connect their carry cases directly to their computer and view critical glance data like email, appointments and other information from the bags exterior, on the go, without needing to open the bag or access the Windows Vista-based device.
'Eleksen has consistently pioneered new and imaginative ways to help people connect with their digital devices', said Robin Shephard, CEO at Eleksen.
'ElekTex has become the standard among leading clothing and electronics brands for advancing the wearable technology market; our creation of a visual output device for bags, briefcases and backpacks in collaboration with Microsoft is a natural extension of where we envision the market going over the next year'.
'Now you'll be able to see, as well as hear your entertainment and other data while on the go'.

'We're excited about the tremendous support and enthusiasm Eleksen is providing for Windows Vista at this year's Consumer Electronics Show', said Brad Goldberg, General Manager of Windows Client at Microsoft Corp.
'By working closely together, we are helping to provide technologies that will connect, entertain and hopefully surprise people by how easy this next generation of computing makes their lives'.
Eleksen's Wearable Display Module paves the way for a range of new soft-goods products and transforms traditional bags and backpacks into soft electronic devices.
Designed to support the Windows SideShow feature in Windows Vista, an auxiliary or secondary display on a laptop, Eleksen's WDM works with any application designed for Windows SideShow-based devices to support e-mail, online calendar, media player and other functions.
The display can be used to easily view the critical information users need, whether the laptop is on, off, or in sleep mode.
The Eleksen Wearable Display Module comprises a 2.46in active TFT LCD screen with 1Gbyte of storage for data files and is controlled by an ElekTex interactive fabric touchpad to control application management and data display.
The product supports 7-button controls including a dedicated menu and back button as well as four navigation buttons and a go button.
Available either as a reference design or a ready-to-integrate module for bag manufacturers, orders for the WDM will be taken directly from Eleksen in January 2007.
