Belkin has chosen ElekTex smart fabric touchpads to enable its new SportCommand for iPod products

The Belkin partnership strengthens Eleksen's strong foothold in the consumer goods marketplace and introduces an entirely new and exciting application for textile technologies in the wearable accessories space. With SportCommand, Belkin and Eleksen offer an alternative to plastics as the default choice for consumer electronics product design.

'The SportCommand product demonstrates an innovative use of ElekTex, proving that textiles can be designed to provide all of the attributes a consumer product requires including tactile controls', said Robin Shephard, CEO at Eleksen.

'Our touch-sensitive fabric technology allows for the development of completely new, stylish, and discreet tech-enabled lifestyle merchandise'.

'The Belkin partnership confirms that ElekTex is a serious alternative to traditional design materials'.

Eleksen has added accessory product design into its firmly established wearable interface and keyboard expertise.

Building on its skills in designing iPod controls for various clothing lines, Eleksen is now working with companies like Belkin to design accessories that meet the demands of today's upwardly mobile lifestyle.

'Our expertise in textile-based product design, coupled with our core technology, has truly changed the way manufacturers and consumers view the smart fabrics market', continued Shephard.

'There is great promise in taking technology off the desk and integrating it into the items people already use', commented Gavin Downey, Director of Product Management - Mobility, at Belkin.

'Eleksen's smart fabric allows people to use technology in new ways'.

The Belkin SportCommand for iPod lets user wirelessly control their music while the iPod stays protected.

With its incorporated smart-fabric remote in the armband, the SportCommand is ideal for outdoor activities such as snowboarding and mountain biking.

The SportCommand will be available soon.
