Elan Digital has announced that its VMB5000A bridge product is finding applications in the mobile device market.

The company claims that, as the wireless communications market continues to expand and develop more and more sophisticated products, the need to extend the capabilities of standard mobile device platforms is increasing.

In the Chinese TDSCMA market where existing GSM/WCDMA products need to be updated with additional radio support, the VMB5000A can be directly connected to the processor system memory bus to provide two USB ports that can host additional radio devices.

The addition of a Wimax capability is another potentially imminent application as its market penetration accelerates, according to the company.

It is also possible to configure the VMB5000A to provide two USB ports and one or two UART ports (one high speed).

The device has onboard flash memory.

Elan Digital provides direct technical support worldwide and has sales representation in most major markets.
