USB host enhances MCU systems
Device is configured as a standard USB 2.0 host controller bridge to 16bit microcontroller bus.
Elan Digital Systems has launched a new version of its highly successful VMB5000A USB host controller device in a new role.
The new device, the VMB5000AE, is designed to be configured as a standard USB 2.0 host controller bridge to 16bit microcontroller bus.
This device is particularly suitable for applications using low-cost microcontrollers that do not offer native USB support.
Typical applications include POS equipment, telemetry and smart metering equipment.
Features include low power consumption, typically12mA operating and 120uA in sleep mode.
The device is in a small size 64 VQFN package and has integrated EEPROM write-protected memory space for utility/ security storage.
It is WHQL qualified, with Linux, Mac and CE drivers, and is available now from Elan Digital Systems.
