Elan Digital Systems has received full Microsoft WHQL approval for its highly successful VMB5000 bridge device.
Elan Digital Systems has received full Microsoft WHQL approval for its highly successful VMB5000 bridge device.
Drivers for both USB and high speed UART will now be available through the standard Windows Update service.
The VMB5000 provides a very high speed (20Mbit/s) bridge function from PCMCIA to USB 2.0 and/or UART in a single 64 QFN package measuring only 9 x 9 x 1mm.
Integrated EEPROM provides plug and play data storage.
The combination of high performance and low cost of the VMB5000 has resulted in it being selected and used in volume production by world class manufacturers of wireless modem cards for both PCMCIA and CompactFlash formats.
Express card WMC manufacturers needing an adapter to support legacy PCs are using the VMB5000 as the interface in the adapter as this solution offers a much smaller and aesthetically pleasing physical format and in addition it makes 25% more host power available to the modem.
