Packed with further features yet in a tiny footprint of just 8 x 8 x 1.1mm, the VPU16551 comes in an ultra-thin 64-ball BGA package.
The device has been designed to simplify the task of the Bluetooth card designer while adding value to the card's overall functionality in areas such as power management, auxiliary control and multifunction applications.
The device conforms to the PC Card and Compact Flash interface standards and can run at 3.3 or 5V and has extremely low power To aid designers with easy testing and implementation of their designs, a comprehensive reference kit is available which includes 20 sample devices, reference card and support software tools, including a card information structure generation and programming utility.
A clear advantage of the VPU16551 is the operating system level compatibility as the 16550 UART architecture brings generic support as standard in all Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems, including Windows CE and PocketPC.
Elan also offers custom drivers for CE and WDM in high performance applications.
