Dynamic Engineering has updated the PCIBPMCX2 design to include the use of Zero Slot fans for cooling high wattage PMC designs.

Zero Slot fans are designed to stay within the PCI and PMC height restrictions.

Up to four fans can be installed without adding PCI slots to a design.

Dynamic Engineering developed Zero Slot fans to solve the problem of requiring two PCI slots when fans are required for cooling PMCs.

PCIBPMCX2 is a two slot PMC carrier for the PCI/PCI-X bus.

The concept is to use low-profile fans specifically modified to Dynamic Engineering requirements, using the height above and below the board to reduce the effective height.

The PMC specification allows 4.7mm on the carrier component side in the non-connector area.

Fans require some added space for the air to flow.

The fans are set to 3.5mm above the surface to allow 2.1mm minimum clearance to the PMC component surface.

Each fan produces 5.2 CFM for a steady stream of air to the PMC.

PCIBPMCX2 is now shipping with the Zero Slot fan capability.
