TDC has configurable server modules
The Connect One Mini Socket IWi-Fi module from TDC is specifically designed to offer a secure connection between embedded applications and a Wlan.
The module includes extensive security features such as an on-chip firewall protecting the application from incoming internet traffic.
It is fully loaded with all internet protocols and parameters.
In order to minimise design-in overhead, the module offers an AT+I Serialnet plug-and-play operating mode for instant serial to IP bridging, without any need to make changes to the host application.
The only support required from the host design is a header to connect the module to the target board, and a suitable antenna attached to the on-module SMA connector; no TCP/IP or Wlan stacks are required on the host.
The full feature set of the module is extensive, for developers with more specific requirements.
It includes support for up to 10 simultaneous TCP/UDP sockets, two listening sockets, a web server with two websites, SMTP and Pop3 clients, Mime attachments, FTP and Telnet clients.
The security of the module supports the SSL3/TLS1 protocol for secure sockets, HTTPS FTPS protocols and WEP, WPA and WPA2 Wi-Fi encryption.
All of these features are accessible without adding Wi-Fi drivers, security and networking protocols to the host application, through the Connect One high level AT+I API.
Firmware parameters are stored in external flash memory for ease of updating.
Based on a 32-bit ARM7TDMI RISC processor, the module is power efficient, drawing just 250mA from 3.3V in transmit mode, dropping to just 8mA in standby.
