GPEG, a provider of display solutions for the industrial, gaming, professional and consumer markets, has launched a 3.5in (8.9cm) TFT display featuring HVGA (320 x 480) resolution.

This compact TFT module will produce a colour palette of 262K colours over a wide viewing angle of 170deg horizontally and vertically.

The built-in light-emitting-diode (LED) backlight is rated at 30k hours and produces an on-screen brightness of 350 nits with a high contrast ratio of 800:1.

Interface options include LVDS and RGB; both of these interfaces include a built-in LED driver.

The display is also available with a projective capacitive touch (PCT) screen.

Adding a PCT screen allows designers to emulate the functionality of current consumer music players and mobile phones into their latest products.

Available in single- or multi-touch versions, the touch screen allows for 'gesturing' functions such as 'pinching' (zoom out), 'stretching' (zoom in) and 'swipe' (left, right, up and down).

The PCT has a high impact resistance (3H) and will work with a gloved hand.

Light transmission is typically 88 per cent with a positional accuracy of better than one per cent.

These TFT displays can be further enhanced using the company's Turnkey Solutions facility, which offers options on integrating standard or custom display modules with printed circuit boards, keypads, plastics and full test facilities.
