SanDisk, the world's leading memory card vendor, has licensed CryptoFlash, Discretix's recently released embedded security solution for Flash memory. SanDisk and Discretix are working together to incorporate Discretix's crypto technology into SanDisk's advanced, highly secure memory cards. CryptoFlash includes hardware core intellectual property that enables high data rate, on-the-fly, cryptographic performance without any performance degradation.
In addition, the CryptoFlash solution includes a broad range of infrastructure security software modules.
CryptoFlash will be integrated into SanDisk's latest generation Flash microcontroller that is targeted at enabling e-commerce applications in secure mobile phones.
Robust, high performance security is expected to open new applications for SanDisk's Flash storage cards.
SanDisk expects to introduce the first crypto-secure products incorporating the Discretix technology in the first half of 2005.
"We selected the Discretix's CryptoFlash after an extensive evaluation of alternative solutions because we concluded that it offers a complete, superior security solution that is highly flexible and responsive to different mobile security applications", said SanDisk CEO and President, Eli Harari.
"We view cryptographic security as an important element in our strategy of enabling new and exciting applications for mobile storage in the coming years, and are very pleased with our co-operation with the Discretix team", he added.
"We could ask for no better endorsement of the CryptoFlash solution, than having SanDisk as a partner", said Discretix CEO Gal Salomon.
"SanDisk has a history for innovation and the combination of mass storage and security has the ability to bring exciting products to new markets", he added.
