Cyan Technology has become the first Cambridge technology company to participate in the worldwide AIESEC Global Source Programme

Cyan is taking on He Li, a graduate from China University of Geosciences (Beijing) who will spend the next 12-18 months training as an applications engineer while studying for his masters degree. At the end of his training Cyan expects to offer He Li a role in its offices in Shenzhen which the company intends to open in 2007.

AIESEC (Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) is the world's largest nonprofit student organisation, based in 97 countries around the world.

Through its international exchange programme, Global Source, AIESEC offers companies a quick, flexible, low-cost and hassle-free recruitment solution, and the chance to inject valuable cultural diversity and skills into their business.

'AIESEC is a cost-effective platform for us to access skilled graduates that we would not find elsewhere', explains Paul Johnson, CEO, Cyan Technology.

'As a small company recruitment is a tough issue'.

'We have to be very selective because we can't afford the wrong people'.

'This is true when recruiting in the UK and even more so when trying to develop a market 6000 miles away that requires a dedicated local presence and workforce'.

He continues: 'It's very much a mutually beneficial process'.

'He Li brings invaluable multi-lingual abilities, local market knowledge, and cultural diversity into the company which will help us develop'.

'In return we're helping him to improve his already competent applications engineering skills and providing professional and life experiences which will stand him in good stead for his future career - which we hope will be with us'.

'This sort of recruitment strategy will prove to be extremely valuable as we continue to develop our business outside of these shores'.
